Day 1

Yay for Saturdays! I've been in NC for almost 2 months and this is only the second weekend I've spent here. I guess that's part of the problem with making a move in the middle of the holidays when your family and friends live elsewhere - lots of traveling.

Today was a pretty good day - I have a habit of over scheduling myself, and that's what I tried to do this weekend. I signed up for a meditation workshop at the yoga studio I've been taking classes at and I've been looking forward to it. I ultimately think that being able to meditate, clear my mind, and let go will be a big aid in my being successful in my weight loss journey.

I also made a trip to the NC State Farmer's Market. I know it's not the best season for farm fresh vegetables, especially one's I like (I'm just not a fan of collard greens and mustard greens or any southern greens really), but I was able to get some sweet potatoes, an onion, farm fresh eggs, and all natural, grass fed ground beef.

The one thing I didn't do that was on the list was go to the gym and take a body pump class. I had the best of intentions and really wanted to take the class, but the more I thought about how tight my schedule would be this morning/afternoon, the more stressed out I felt myself becoming. And that's not good. So, I made the decision to skip the class today, and spent the time this morning making a healthy breakfast (oatmeal with chocolate peanut butter), catching up on some reading, and planning out my meals for the week.

Speaking of meal plans, I made dinner tonight - an honest to goodness meal that required me to shop for ingredients, turn the oven on and get my hands dirty preparing it. I'm almost embarrassed to say that I've not made what I would consider a real dinner in my new apartment. There's been a lot of eating out and convenience meals. Not too good for the waistline.

I made burgers with the ground beef I bought at the farmers market - I added read crumbs, Italian seasoning, some ketchup and Worcestershire sauce to the meat. 15 minutes later, I had dinner. Alongside it I had sweet potato fries and peas. Real dinner eaten on a real plate at my table. Step one towards getting my routine back and my weight loss back on track. And there are leftovers to eat throughout the week.

Tomorrow should be another good day - the weather is beautiful and I'm hoping to spend some time outside.
