The New Year

Happy New Year! I just returned from spending a relaxing weekend in the North Carolina mountains with 2 of the best people I know.

I've spent the past few weeks thinking. I spend 2 hours in the car everyday commuting - that's a lot of time to contemplate things. I think a lot about where I've been, where I am, and what I want to accomplish. Mostly about what I want to accomplish and how to go about doing that.

2011 was a pretty good year - I solidified some great friendships, ran 2 half marathons, completed my first marathon, relocated to a new state, ran the Ragnar Relay, went camping for the first time, and had an overall solid year. The one not so good thing - I gained weight this year. It's something I don't want to acknowledge, but it's also something I can't ignore. It stares at me every day and makes itself known when I get dressed in the morning.

I'm determined to make 2012 a successful year. My word of the year is Accomplishment, and there are a lot of things I want to accomplish. The difference this year is instead of saying I want to or I wish, I am saying I will. I will finally reach my goal weight, I will succeed in running a second marathon, I will finally start feeling settled and live the life I want to live.

Of course I have a lot of thoughts formulating, but for now, here's to a happy and successful 2012!
